"Labor" Day

So Labor Day came and went on Monday. Joel, Konrad and I went to brunch with friends and then up to see my folks at Burley Park. The real excitement came on Tuesday.

I had taken the night for myself in order to get my hair cut and colored. While sitting in the chair I did the totally uncool and took a call from what I expected to be my friend Nicole. Instead it was her hubby informing me that Nicole's water had broken and could we (i.e. Joel, Konrad and me) come to the house to watch their little one (who is two) until his grandparents arrived from Wisconsin on Wednesday. Joel, Konrad and I packed our bags and headed to their house so the mommy and daddy to be could head on to the hospital. The four of us enjoyed the delicious dinner that Nicole had been preparing, but never had a chance to eat, read books, played "kitchen" and went to sleep. 5 hours later their healthy little girl, Mia, was delivered. The next day C and I hung out until about noon (we even saw a deer on our walk!)when his daddy came home to take him to meet his new baby sister!

Things I learned during our time:
Joel and I could maybe actually handle two kids under 2 years of age - well atleast for less than 24 hours. Whether or not we could handle Kinzie, too, who knows.

Konrad is the LOUDEST sleeper ever. I could barely sleep waiting to hear if it was a boy or a girl. Add into that the kiddo in his crib next to us who lulls himself to sleep by moaning at the top of his lungs. I have to get it on tape one of these days.

Our friends love to have babies the Tuesday following major holiday weekends. Not sure what that's about, but there you go.

Congratulations again to the whole family on their new addition. She is absolutely gorgeous (just like her momma) and will be just as sweet as her little brother I am sure.

And yes, I did finish the cut and color before heading to their place.
